Responsibility. Take it, it's Yours!

I still find it humorous that some idiots continue to get their underpants in a bunch and instead of taking criticism and learning from it, they attack back and argue with the conclusion of saying "Why dont YOU do something about it then?" Not only is that very irresponsible thinking but it only proves further that you know you are not accomplishing anything and so you say that as if no one can do better than you. Wow. Pretty conceited thinking if u ask me.

Have you ever heard the Governer or President of the United States say "Why dont you do something about it then?" when they were criticized? No! That's because they are in a position where it is THEIR responsibility to take care of certain business.

Using that same logic, the ones in AS and Senate getting all angry and saying "why dont u do something about it then" are irresponsible fools that are only holding whatever position they have just so they can put it on their resume. It isn't like they care about their student body anyway.
------------

If a resident were to ask me "Why cant you be a better CF?" or "Why is this and that horrible and not working?" , I wouldnt snap back at them and say, "Well if you dont like it, why dont you get up from your ass and do something instead of whining?"

If i said that, I would be stupid. Why? Because I am the CF and it is my JOB is to serve the residence hall. If there are complaints from residents about things they don't like, it is NOT their fault. It is my RESPONSIBILITY to make it right because that is why I was hired for the position.

------------

Understand where your responsibilities exist. Think of it this way: If you were truly doing a good job, people would not be complaining about you as much.

There is something you can do...throw out the current leadership in an election or run for office yourself. It sucks that both our choices for president/vp are from within the system, but at least one group seems to recognize the problem. (Although they right now they seem to be out-advertised) I may not even vote out of disgust with this whole process, but if I do, it will be for people that actually want to do something for us.

ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. i remember a certain president saying that.

in the absence of any real leadership, you need to be the leader.

Okay ... so this whole line of arguments frustrates the hell out of me. Can I ask this? What exactly should AS do? What are five things that they could do to serve your needs? This has to be more specific if anything is going to happen.

Let's try holding a legit election for starters. Then we can talk later.

What could AS do to serve our needs? Actually stand up for us against the administration. They could actually do something to make our lives better. They could actually REPRESENT us rather than belittle us. They could address issues that actually matter to the MAJORITY of SCU students. And they could give a fair amount of money to cultural organizations. There are your five things.

AS does give money to cultural organizations. Not enough ... and that is being addressed. But seriously, what else do you really want? You have to be specific. Talking to the adminstration is difficult and we have to have demands. We boycott Benson for a day, we have an issue. That's the way we have to work, but we have to know what you want.

You have some good points, Landis... yes, AS shouldn't expect for the student body to work for them
but if a resident had a problem with your CF abilities, should they go online and talk about how a horrible CF you are and not go directly to you and tell you? or should they tell you what's wrong so they can make an attempt to fix the problem?

True. But the situation is completely different. A CF has close contact with residents all the time so the affects are more apparent.

Do you go directly to Bush to complain about what you don't like? Not really. Most people done. But if u dont like something your parents are doing, you would go talk directly to them.
